"... On Sunday November 4 we will find coral ....., at 18 Hrs A little less than 1 hour one of the participating choirs informs me that for a particular problem can not attend. Was there any possibility that a chorus save me ????..."
This mail came in today on a mailing list dedicated to our activity, and rescued him from there is because I note that is a phenomenon that has been repeated with some regularity in recent times.
In fact, I recently went to sing at a choral event, covering a chorus that warned it would not be involved with 4 days in advance . Of course, for my group was the phenomenon, but I think it's not the point.
I think the important, in this case, you get a little on-site who organizes or coordinates the event. In many cases it often happens that the organizer is a chorus or part of it, people who are killed getting lung pure place, putting him in a position, by distributing, designing flyers, newsletters and programs hand, in some cases, diplomas and personalized souvenirs ... And all for what? For last minute (think of a coral meeting usually planned months in advance) you send a mail saying "you know what, we will not go, conseguite another chorus."
How one can put forward to organize another meeting coral? Okay, usually always see any group (medium or small, which obviously are the ones who have to mobilize people and therefore less able to respond faster) than "off the fire", but still you have to find a place to keep you the souvenirs for a choir of 40 singers , you had to replace it with a sextet. And what you spent on materials and labor time, do not get replenished anyone.
If there were one or two cases like this, it would arm all the fuss. But note that so far this year, as I said, is becoming a recurrent phenomenon. And sad, because this causes disappointment of organizing choral, and ultimately we will end up running out of places to sing.
Is it too much to ask that those responsible for directing a choir are to culminate in a little more responsible? I hope not.
Sorry for the bad vibes, and good luck for the poor girl who sent the mail from the start,
Johann
